The Pressure is Off

Anybody else get a little overwhelmed during the holiday shopping season? My thought is- how can I adequately express how deeply I love my people- through a gift, or something I make or do? There is no gift big enough (or at least- not one I can afford!)- to communicate all my love.

How do you boil down a heart full of love into one thing?

The same goes for walking out my faith. How can I ever do or be or create enough goodness to adequately honor the One who created me?

"Then they asked him, 'What must we do to do the works God requires?'

Jesus answered, 'The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.'” John 6:28-29

What must I do to please God? Jesus did not answer- sacrifice your time, do good deeds, donate your money, love people, volunteer at church, stay away from sin. Those are all really good things- nice gifts. But they are not the MAIN thing. The main thing is this: Believe.

*Believe* that Jesus is enough... enough to cover our flaws, enough to care for our loved ones, enough to lead us when we are confused, enough to defend us, enough to love us at our worst, enough to always be on our side- even when we have royally gotten off course.

He is always enough. If you believe that today- you have done the works of God. And you have presented him with a holiday gift He treasures- one that will never tarnish or fade.

He receives it with great joy.

(And that should take all of the pressure off!)
